The Bundesverband deutscher Patentanwälte e.V. (Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys) is registered in the Association Register of the District Court of Cologne under registration number VR 6975.

Authorized Representatives:
The executive board as defined under § 26 BGB (German Civil Code) consists of the president, the treasurer, and the secretary. Any two of these board members jointly represent the Association (according to § 12 paragraph 6 of the constitution of the Bundesverband deutscher Patentanwälte e.V. (Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys)).

The rules governing the patent attorney profession are set forth in the Patentanwaltsordnung (PAO) (Patent Attorney Regulations). In his or her field of expertise, the patent attorney is an independent organ for the administration of justice.
